Rust stains happen when iron parts, such as nails and screws, come into contact with water. When these items are exposed to the air, an oxidation reaction occurs, which causes rust to form. Rust is difficult to remove from fabric, but it's not impossible. Here are a few steps to help you get rid of rust stains from your t-shirt:

  • Put the garment in a bucket and cover with white vinegar.
  • Let the garment soak for at least an hour.
  • After soaking, rinse the garment in lukewarm water.
  • Use a soft brush to gently scrub the stained area.
  • If the stain persists, mix equal parts baking soda and vinegar into a paste and apply it to stain.
  • Let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse garment again.
  • Repeat until stain is gone.
  • For tough stains, a product like OxiClean may be helpful.
  • Once you're finished, wash t-shirt in the washing machine as you normally would.

By following these steps, you can easily remove rust stains from your t-shirts. With a bit of effort, you can have your favorite t-shirt looking as good as new!
