Rust is one of the most stubborn stains to remove from clothing. It can discolor and damage fabrics, making them look worn and drab. As anyone who has owned a swimming costume knows, rust stains can easily latch onto fabric in a swimming pool or when worn around metals such as jewellery and watches. If left untreated, it may be hard to get rid of it.
But don't despair! We're here to help you restore your swimwear to its former glory with these easy-to-follow steps:
This will remove any loose rust and help reduce the size of the stain.
Choose a mild abrasive, such as baking soda or salt. Combine it with enough water to create a paste. Then, gently rub paste onto the rust stain with a clean cloth or sponge.
After you've rubbed the paste on the stain, give the swimwear a good rinse in cold water. You may want to repeat Steps 2 and 3 multiple times for tough stains.
Mix one part white vinegar with four parts warm water and soak the swimwear for fifteen minutes. This will help loosen rust and make it easier to remove.
Make sure to use a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Afterward, give the swimwear another rinse and hang or lay flat to dry.
Depending on severity of stain, you may need to repeat Steps 1-5 until all rust is gone.
With a little bit of elbow grease and the right cleaning products, you can say goodbye to rust stains on your swimwear! And you'll be ready to hit the beach in style.
