What You'll Need

  • Dish Soap
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Lemon Juice
  • Toothbrush or stiff-bristled brush
  • Sponge

The Process

  1. Start by dabbing the rust stain with a damp cloth. This will help to remove any excess and prevent the rust stain from spreading.
  2. Create a mixture of dish soap and white vinegar and mix until foamy. Wet the stain with the mixture and let sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Mix together baking soda and lemon juice to form a thick paste. Spread the paste over the rust stain and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Scrub the area with a toothbrush or stiff-bristled brush to help lift and remove the stain.
  5. Once the stain is gone, rinse off the area with water and a sponge.
  6. Finally, wash the sweatpants in the washing machine as normal.
