Rust stains on sundresses are typically caused by contact with metal items, such as jewelry, zippers, and buttons. In some cases, rust can come from contact with water or moisture that contains traces of iron or other metals that react with air.
Fortunately, rust stains don’t have to be permanent. There are several effective methods for removing them from sundresses.
Apply fresh lemon juice directly to rust stains. Rub the affected areas in a circular motion. Let the lemon juice sit for 10–15 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. Repeat this process until the rust stains are gone.
Cut a potato in half and rub the cut edge onto the rust stains. The acid in the potato will help break down the rust. Once the rust is broken down, rinse the sundress in cold water. Repeat the process as needed.
Make a paste of baking soda and water, and apply it to the rust stain. Let the paste sit for 10–15 minutes, then scrub the affected area. Rinse the sundress in cold water and repeat as needed.
Once you’ve successfully removed the rust stains, it’s important to take preventative measures to ensure they don’t return. Whenever possible, avoid wearing jewelry and other metal items with sundresses. Additionally, always check the care label before washing any sundress to make sure the care instructions are followed.
Rust stains don’t have to be a permanent problem for anyone who loves wearing sundresses. With the right techniques, you can easily remove rust stains and keep your sundresses looking like new.
