Pre-treat the Spandex Fabric

Before working on those rust stains, give the spandex fabric a pre-treatment:

  • Lay the spandex out flat and smooth out any wrinkles.

  • Rinse the fabric with cold water.
  • Allow the fabric to air dry.

Address the Rust Stains Directly

Now it’s time to tackle the rust stains head-on:

  • Allow the salt/lemon juice mixture to soak into the stain for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of Borax and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to create a thick paste. Apply the paste to the rust stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.

  • Fill your sink or a bucket with lukewarm water and add the recommended amount of detergent.
  • Soak the clothes in the detergent solution for 30 minutes.
  • Rinse the fabric with cold water.
  • Air dry the fabric.
