What you will need:

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Toothbrush or scrub brush
  • Rubber gloves

Step 1: Soaking the Socks

Start by filling a bowl or sink with warm water and two tablespoons of white vinegar. Gently stir the mixture and add the socks. Let them soak for 30 minutes. This will help loosen the rust stains, making them easier to remove.

Step 2: Scrubbing Stains

Once the socks have finished soaking, take them out and lay them flat on a hard surface. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 3 tablespoons of water. Dip the toothbrush or scrub brush into the mixture and gently rub at rust stains. Do not apply too much pressure as this could damage the fabric. Continue scrubbing until the stains have been removed.

Step 3: Washing the Socks

Once all the rust stains have been removed, wash the socks in washing machine using hot water and a detergent of your choice. Allow them to dry completely before wearing them again.
