What You Need

  • Rust Remover
  • Soft cloth or brush
  • Sponge or Toothbrush
  • Clean rags

Step 1: Pre-Treat Stain

Before you start to tackle the rust stain, pre-treat the area with a rust remover. This will help break down stain and make it easier to remove. Be sure to follow the instructions on product label and use protective gloves.

Step 2: Brush the Stain

Once the rust remover has had time to work, use a soft cloth or brush to gently scrub the affected area. The cloth or brush should be damp but not wet. This will help loosen the rust particles from the fabric so you can easily wipe them away.

Step 3: Sponge or Toothbrush the Stain

If there are still some stubborn rust particles stuck to the fabric, use a sponge or toothbrush to lightly scrub the area. Be sure not to use too much pressure so as not to damage the fabric.

Step 4: Rinse the Stain

Once you've removed as much of rust stain as possible, rinse the area with cool water and a clean rag. This will help get rid of any remaining rust particles and residue.
