What You'll Need

  • Optical brightener powder
  • Lemon juice
  • Baking soda
  • Two buckets of warm water

Step 1: Soak the Pants

Fill one of your buckets with warm water and add one teaspoon of optical brightener powder for every gallon of water. Submerge the sleep pants in the bucket and allow them to soak overnight.

Step 2: Remove Stains with Lemon Juice

The next day, fill your second bucket with warm water and add one teaspoon of lemon juice for every gallon of water. Soak the sleep pants in the lemon juice solution for 10 minutes. This will help loosen the rust stains.

Step 3: Scrub with Baking Soda

Next, make a paste with baking soda and water. Use an old toothbrush or cloth to gently scrub the rust stain with the paste. You may have to repeat this step a few times before the stain is completely gone.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Once you've scrubbed off all the rust stains, rinse the sleep pants with cold water and hang them to dry. You should now have rust-free sleep pants!
