Rust stains can be particularly stubborn and hard to lift, especially from delicate fabric like skirts. But with the right approach, you'll be able to remove rust stains before they leave a permanent mark. Read on for detailed instructions on how to get rid of rust stains from your skirts.
First, identify type of fabric your skirt is made of so you know what cleaning solutions to use and which ones to avoid. Cotton, wool, and synthetic fabrics require different treatments, as do un-dyed or dyed fabrics.
It's important to read care label if there is one stitched inside your skirt. Many commercial skirt garments come with special instructions regarding cleaning and laundering that should be followed for best results. Sometimes, these labels will even give specific solutions for rust stain removal.
Fill a small container with cold water and mix in enough white vinegar or lemon juice to make a solution. Apply the mixture directly onto the stain and leave it for an hour or two. If the stain is particularly hard to remove, you may need to leave it overnight.
Once pre-treatment period is over, your next step is to launder the skirt. Use a gentle detergent designed for delicate fabrics, and avoid using bleach. Put your skirt into the washing machine and wash it on the gentle cycle in warm water.
It may take more than one cycle to remove the rust stain completely. Repeat steps two to four until stain has completely come out. Once the process is done, hang the garment to dry and admire your handiwork.
Never do laundry again. Save time for things you ❤️
