- Rust remover (optional)
- White vinegar
- Soft-bristled brush (optional)
- Liquid laundry detergent
- Old toothbrush (optional)
- Cold water
- White cloth
How to Clean Rust Stains from a Scarf
- If the rust stain is still fresh, use a rust remover to remove stain. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- If rust stain has set in, dampen the area with white vinegar. Let it sit for a few minutes.
- If necessary, use a soft-bristled brush or old toothbrush to loosen the rust stain while vinegar is on the scarf.
- Dab a small amount of liquid detergent onto rust stain and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes.
- Gently rub the detergent and rust with a white cloth.
- Rinse the area with cold water.
- If rust stain is still there, repeat steps 2–6 until the stain disappears.
