  • Rust remover (optional)
  • White vinegar
  • Soft-bristled brush (optional)
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Old toothbrush (optional)
  • Cold water
  • White cloth

How to Clean Rust Stains from a Scarf

  1. If the rust stain is still fresh, use a rust remover to remove stain. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. If rust stain has set in, dampen the area with white vinegar. Let it sit for a few minutes.
  3. If necessary, use a soft-bristled brush or old toothbrush to loosen the rust stain while vinegar is on the scarf.
  4. Dab a small amount of liquid detergent onto rust stain and allow it to sit for about 15 minutes.
  5. Gently rub the detergent and rust with a white cloth.
  6. Rinse the area with cold water.
  7. If rust stain is still there, repeat steps 2–6 until the stain disappears.
