How to Easily Remove Rust Stains from Your Sari

What You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • Lemon juice
  • White vinegar
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Cotton swabs

Removing Rust Stains from Your Sari

  1. Create a paste using equal parts baking soda and lemon juice. Mix together in a container until a thick paste forms.
  2. Apply the paste liberally onto stained area.
  3. Gently rub the paste into the stain. Use a soft-bristled brush or cotton swab to help gently scrub the stain.
  4. Mix together equal parts white vinegar and salt in a separate container. Stir until well combined.
  5. Spread the mixture over the stained area and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Rinse mixture off with clean, warm water.
  7. Pat dry with a clean towel.
  8. Repeat Steps 1-7 if necessary.

Additional Tips

  • Soak the stained area for an hour or two in lukewarm water before starting the rust removal process.
  • Spot test any product you use on delicate fabrics like a Sari to ensure you do not discolor or damage the material.
