The first step is to soak your garment in a solution of cold water and laundry detergent. Make sure the water is cold, as hot water can set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
Once your garment has been soaked for a few minutes, apply a rust remover to the stained area. Follow the instructions on the rust remover product and allow the solution to sit on fabric for the recommended time.
When the rust remover has been applied, rinse the fabric in cold water to remove the solution. You may need to use a scrub brush to help loosen rust stains.
The final step is to wash the garment in cold water with a mild laundry detergent. Hang the garment up to dry and check to make sure rust stains have been completely removed.
