How to Shake That Rust Stain Right Out of Your Parka

Rust stains can seem like a nightmare to clean, especially if they have already set into fabric. But with right ingredients and techniques, you can get your parka back in tip-top condition.

Gather Materials

You’ll need some materials on hand before starting the cleaning process. Gather:

  • A teaspoon of white vinegar
  • A tablespoon of baking soda
  • Two tablespoons of laundry detergent
  • A bowl of warm water
  • A sponge
  • A cloth or brush

Directions

  1. Create a cleaning mixture by combining equal parts of white vinegar and baking soda in a bowl. Once combined, mixture should bubble.
  2. Dip sponge into the mixture and rub it directly onto the rust stain.
  3. Rinse the sponge in the bowl of warm water.
  4. Mix together two tablespoons of laundry detergent with the warm water.
  5. Gently scrub rust stain with the cloth or brush using the detergent solution.
  6. Rinse area thoroughly with cold water.
  7. Pat dry with a towel.
