Removing rust stains from your clothing, furniture, carpets, or any other nylon surface can seem overwhelming. But with a little elbow grease and right cleaning solution, you can successfully eliminate these unsightly marks. Here’s a quick overview of how to easily clean rust stains from nylon.

What You Will Need

Before getting started on the cleaning process, make sure you have the following items handy:

  • Ammonia
  • Laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Borax
  • Scrub brush

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Begin by diluting an equal parts mix of ammonia and warm water.

Step 2: Pour ammonia-water mixture onto the rust stain and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3: Scrub stain with a scrub brush until you see it lightening up.

Step 4: Rinse out the area with warm water.

Step 5: If you’re still seeing some lingering rust stains, try a mixture of laundry detergent and white vinegar. Pour the solution directly onto affected area and scrub with the brush once more.

Step 6: Finally, if the stain persists, you can use Borax. Take a few tablespoons of Borax and mix it with a small amount of warm water. Apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before scrubbing it off.
