Start by pre washing the affected area in cold water, rubbing gently with a sponge or cloth. Be sure not to scrub too hard as this could damage the fabric. Allow the garment to air dry before proceeding with spot treatment.

If the rust stains are still present, make a paste of baking soda and lemon juice, and apply it directly onto the stain. Let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping away with a damp cloth. Apply the paste multiple times if necessary.

Another solution is to mix warm water with a few drops of liquid detergent. Soak the rust-stained area for 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Repeat this process until the rust stains have been completely removed.

Alternatively, pour white vinegar (undiluted) onto the rust spots, and let it sit for about 15 minutes. You can then use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the stain, and rinse with warm water. A toothbrush works well for this purpose too.

For tough rust stains, you may need to use commercial rust removers. Follow instructions on the packaging carefully, as some of these products can damage fabric if not used correctly. After removing the rust stains, wash the dress as normal.

With these steps, your midi dress should be free of rust stains in no time!
