What You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup of washing powder
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • White vinegar
  • Laundry brush or old toothbrush

Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

Before you get started, pour some white vinegar onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. This will help to loosen and break down the rust.

Step 2: Create a Cleaning Solution

Now it's time to mix up the cleaning solution. In a bowl, combine the washing powder, baking soda, and lemon juice. Stir until it forms a paste.

Step 3: Apply the Paste to the Stain

To apply the paste, use a laundry brush or an old toothbrush. Gently scrub the paste into stain in a circular motion. Make sure to get paste into all the cracks and crevices of the stain.

Step 4: Let the Paste Sit

Once the paste has been applied, let it sit for 15-20 minutes to give it time to work its magic. This will give the cleaning solution more time to penetrate the rust stain.

Step 5: Wash Jumper

After the paste has had time to sit, throw jumper in the washing machine. Set machine to a normal cycle and wash the jumper in warm water. If the stain is still present, you can repeat steps 1-4 before washing again.

Conclusion

Your favorite jumper doesn't have to be ruined by rust stains. With just a few simple steps, you can make your jumper look as good as new again in no time.
