Instructions
- Start by creating a mixture of white vinegar and salt. Mix two tablespoons of salt and one cup of white vinegar together in a bowl. Stir mixture with a spoon until the salt dissolves.
- After making vinegar and salt mixture, apply it on rust stain and put it aside for a few minutes so that the vinegar can work on the stain.
- Once the substance has had a chance to soak in, take a non-abrasive sponge and gently scrub away the stain. Make sure to use light strokes and not press too hard or you may cause additional damage to the fabric.
- Next, mix two tablespoons of cream of tartar with one tablespoon of lemon juice and stir until a paste forms. Apply the paste directly to stain and let it sit for a few minutes.
- Using a soft cloth, rub the paste gently onto the stain in a circular motion. The cream of tartar has a mild abrasive quality which helps to break up the rust. Continue rubbing until the stain is gone.
- Finally, rinse the garment under cold running water and allow it to air dry before wearing it again.
