Start by squeezing lemon juice directly onto the rust stain. Then, using a toothbrush, lightly scrub the stain for 3 minutes. The lemon juice should help loosen up stain.
Mix together 1 tablespoon of oxalic acid and ½ cup of hot water. Pour the mixture onto stain and let it sit for 5 minutes. Use an old toothbrush to spread the solution evenly over the stain.
Make a paste using 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water. Spread the paste over the rust stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that, use a damp toothbrush to gently scrub the area.
When you’ve finished pre-treating and scrubbing, put the hanbok in the washing machine. For best results, use a laundry detergent without bleach and cold water. Set the machine to a delicate cycle.
For stubborn rust stains, go back to step one and re-treat with lemon juice. If necessary, repeat steps three and four. With these steps, you should be able to remove any rust stain from your hanbok.
