How to Easily Clean Rust Stains Off Furniture

Rust stains can ruin the look of your furniture, but you don't need to worry any longer. Here's how to easily clean off rust stains using common household items.

What You'll Need

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Lemon juice or white vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft-bristle brush

Instructions

  1. Mix a few drops of dishwashing detergent in a bowl of water.
  2. Gently scrub away at the stain with a soft-bristle brush. Make sure to continuously use clean parts of the brush.
  3. If the stain doesn't come off, mix together equal parts lemon juice or white vinegar and baking soda. Spread this mixture over the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Again, gently scrub the area with a soft-bristle brush. You may need to do this a few times depending on the severity of the stain.
  5. Once finished, rinse area with clean water to remove all residue.

Cautions

  • Make sure to test any cleaning solution or ingredients in an inconspicuous spot first to ensure no damage is done to the furniture.
  • Avoid using abrasive scouring pads or steel wool as they can cause further damage to the furniture.
