Although metal earplugs are designed to be long-lasting, they can become damaged over time due to constant wear and tear. When this happens, rust may start to form on the outside of the earplugs. The good news is that, as long as the rust has not eaten through the metal, it is possible to get rid of the unsightly stains.
The first step in the process is to lay out your earplugs on a flat surface. Make sure that you firmly press down on each earplug so that any dirt or debris can be dislodged.
Next, create a cleaning solution by mixing together one part vinegar and one part water. Vinegar is a great rust remover, and it will help to loosen the stubborn stains from your earplugs.
Once your solution is ready, use a soft cloth to gently rub the rust stain with mixture. Make sure that you cover the entire area that is affected by stain, and apply extra pressure if necessary. Keep rubbing until the rust stain has been completely removed.
Finally, rinse off your earplugs with warm water and let them air dry. After they are completely dry, you can put them back into use.
