Materials Needed

  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Lemon juice
  • Toothbrush
  • Cotton Swab

Step One: Create Cleaning Solution

Mix the baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice together in a bowl until it forms a paste-like consistency.

Step Two: Apply Solution to Stains

Using either toothbrush or cotton swab, apply the cleaning solution to the rusty areas of barrette clips. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to soften up the rust.

Step Three: Rinse and Dry

Gently rinse off the cleaning solution with warm water and use a towel to dry the barrette clips.

Bonus Tips

  • If the rust stains are still present, try scrubbing them with a toothbrush and nail polish remover.
  • For tougher rust stains, let the barrette sit in a bowl of vinegar overnight before rinsing and drying.
