Rust stains on baking dishes can be a nuisance, but they don’t have to stay there forever. With just a few simple household items, you can successfully erase rust stains from your baking dishes, leaving them looking great again.

What You'll Need

To remove rust stains from your baking dishes, you will need the following supplies:

  • Dishwashing detergent
  • Baking soda
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Steel wool, fine-grade sandpaper, or Scotch-Brite pad
  • Soft rag

The Process

Once you have gathered all of the necessary supplies, it’s time to start cleaning:

  1. Create a paste by combining equal parts dishwashing detergent and baking soda.
  2. Dip an old toothbrush into the paste and gently scrub the rust stain.
  3. Rinse off paste and scrub with a steel wool, fine-grade sandpaper, or Scotch-Brite pad to remove any remaining rust.
  4. Fill baking dish with 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar and enough hot water to cover the affected area. Allow the solution to sit for about 15 minutes before draining.
  5. Using a soft rag, wipe away any remaining rust and rinse the baking dish with hot water.

With these easy steps, you should be able to remove stubborn rust stains from your baking dishes in no time. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you may need to repeat the process a few times.
