Lemon Juice, Salt, and Baking Soda Solution

Rust removers can be harsh and abrasive, but the good news is that you don’t need them for removing most rust stains. Start by creating a paste using equal parts lemon juice, salt, and baking soda. Apply this paste to the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then use a brush to rub the paste into the stain before rinsing it away with cold water.

Vinegar and Baking Soda Paste

Vinegar and baking soda make a great team when it comes to rust stain removal. Mix together a paste of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Let this paste sit on rust-stained area for 15-20 minutes. You can either wipe off the paste with a damp cloth or use a brush to gently scrub away the stain.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Cream of Tartar

If you need to tackle tough rust stains, try a combination of hydrogen peroxide and cream of tartar. Create a paste using a ratio of two parts cream of tartar to one part hydrogen peroxide. Apply mix to the rust-stained area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then, gently scrub the area with a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse it with cold water, and the stain should be gone.

Preventing Future Rust Stains

No one wants to have to deal with rust stains again, so it’s important to take steps to prevent them. If any metal objects in your home are prone to rust, keep them away from moist environments as much as possible. Similarly, if you’ve discovered any rust particles or deposits near any fixtures or piping in your home, have them looked at by an experienced plumber.
