The first step in getting rid of a rouge stain is to soak it in warm water. Do not use hot water as it can set the stain. Soak the stain for 20-30 minutes, then dab it gently with cloth or a sponge.
Once the stain has been soaked, create a mixture of equal parts detergent and white vinegar. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing it off.
Once the solution has been washed off, it’s time to wash the tie. Put the tie in the washing machine on gentle cycle and add some fabric softener. Do not put the tie in the dryer – let it air dry.
If you still see a stubborn stain after washing, create a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before washing and air drying the tie.
Removing a rouge stain from a white tie doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With right mixture of detergent, vinegar, and baking soda, you can be sure that your tie will be as good as new.
