Step 1: Pretreat the Stain

Before you begin to clean rouge stains from voile fabrics, it is important to pretreat the stain properly. Begin by blotting the stain with a clean white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the rouge as possible. For persistent stains, you may need to use a pre-treatment solution to further dilute the rouge before attempting to wash fabric.

Step 2: Remove the Stain

The next step is to actually remove rouge stain from the voile fabric. To do this, mix ½ teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with 1 cup of warm water and then gently rub solution into the stained area with a soft cloth. Allow the mixture to sit for five minutes before rinsing the fabric thoroughly in cold water.

Step 3: Launder the Voile

Once the stain has been removed, it is time to launder the voile. Be sure to check the garment’s care label first to see if the fabric can be machine washed. If not, hand washing the fabric in cold water using a gentle detergent is recommended. After laundering, air dry the fabric away from direct sunlight.

Tips & Tricks

  • Always pretreat rouge stains before laundering.
  • Always test cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area of the fabric before using it on the stain.
  • For heavily stained fabric, soak the item in a mixture of 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and 1 quart of cool water for 30 minutes.
  • Always air dry the fabric away from direct sunlight.
