How to Remove Rouge Stains from Traditional Clothing
- Assess the Stain – The first thing you should do when looking at how to remove a rouge stain is to assess the severity of the stain and decide the best way to proceed. If the garment is not delicate and can be machine washed, start by reading the care label to make sure the fabric is safe for washing.
- Pre-Treat the Stain – Before putting your clothing in the washing machine, you’ll want to pre-treat the stain to ensure that it is removed. To do this, mix a solution containing two teaspoons of liquid dish soap and one cup of warm water. Dip a cloth into the solution, then rub it into the stain until the rouge starts to dissolve.
- Wash the Clothing – Put the garment in the washing machine on the coldest setting available. You’ll also want to use a gentle detergent or an oxygen bleach to help remove the stain.
- Check for Residue – After the laundry cycle is complete, check the clothing for any residue from the stain. If there is any remaining, repeat pre-treatment step before putting the clothing back in the machine.
- Dry the Garment – Hang clothing out to dry, making sure not to use heat as this could set stain in the fabric. Once the garment is completely dry, it should be free of the rouge stain!
