The first step to treating a stain is to remove as much of the excess liquid as possible. Do this by blotting the area with a clean cloth or towel. Make sure to press down gently, blotting up and down in a straight motion.
After the stain has been blotted, apply a pre-treatment laundry product or spot cleaner directly to the affected area. Let it sit for a few minutes before moving onto the next step.
Put the swim trunks in washing machine and run a cold cycle with a gentle detergent. If possible, use a wash bag or pillowcase to protect the garment from damage due to agitator movement and tumbling.
Once the cycle is finished, gently remove the garment from the washer and hang it outside to air dry. Do not put it in dryer as it could set the stain and also increase wear and tear on the garment.
