Gather Your Supplies

Make sure you have the following items on hand before you start:

  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • White cloth

Rinse with Cold Water

The first thing you need to do is use cold water to rinse the rouge stain off your tussah silk dress. Use a white cloth to dab the water over stain and start removing it. It’s important to use cold water as hot water can cause the fibres of the silk to shrink or even melt.

Spot Treat with Mild Detergent

If the stain remains after rinsing, you will need to spot treat it with a mild detergent. Take a few drops of the detergent and rub it gently over the stained area. Again, it’s important to only use a mild detergent. Stronger detergents might cause damage to the delicate fabric.

Air Dry

Finally, hang your dress up and let it air dry. Don’t tumble dry or try to accelerate the drying process by using a hairdryer or any other plug-in heating device. Allow your dress to air dry and enjoy it looking as good as new!
