The moment you spot a rouge stain on your silk dupioni, act fast! The longer you give the rouge to settle deep into delicate fibers, the harder it is to get out.
Before you apply any kind of cleaning solution directly on stain, make sure to test it on a hidden seamless of the fabric first. This way, you can determine if the solution might damage or discolor the fabric.
This is the easiest and safest method for removing a rouge stain from silk dupioni. Simply mix some mild soap and lukewarm water in a bowl, and then use a rag to dab at the spot without scrubbing. If your rouge stain is tough, add a few tablespoons of white vinegar to the mixture.
If soap and water method isn't quite doing the trick, try prewash spray meant for removing stains. Spray the affected area, let it sit for a few minutes, then take a clean cloth and dab spot.
For extremely stubborn rouge stains, try soaking your silk dupioni in a mixture of ¼ cup of ammonia and one quart of lukewarm water. Make sure to soak for no longer than 15 minutes, then rinse out fabric with cold water.
If all else fails, you can take your silk dupioni to the dry cleaners. Professional cleaning services have the tools and equipment necessary to safely remove rouge stains from the most delicate fabrics.
