Steps to Remove Rouge Stains from Sarong

  • Blot the area with a clean, white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub the stain – merely blot at it to soak up any excess rouge.
  • Create a paste made of 1 tablespoon mild laundry detergent and 1 tablespoon water. Dab this paste onto stain and let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Rinse off the paste with lukewarm water, then use another clean cloth or towel to absorb any leftover moisture.
  • If the rouge stain is still visible, mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Soak the stained area with this mixture and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes has passed, rinse off the vinegar and baking soda solution with lukewarm water. Use a clean cloth to pat-dry the fabric.
  • If necessary, repeat any of the above steps. The stain should start fading after the first or second try.

Tips for Prevention

  • As much as possible, avoid wearing sarongs when applying makeup.
  • Consider keeping a cotton rag near you when applying makeup. That way, accidental spills can be quickly wiped up.
  • Before wearing a sarong, check to make sure all stains have been removed.
