What You'll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton swabs
  • Ammonia solution
  • Dish detergent
  • Wash cloth

Removing Rouge Stains Step-by-Step

  1. Start by using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol to gently rub away at stain until it becomes less visible. Make sure not to use too much pressure as this can damage the fabric.
  2. Once stain has been lightened, create a solution of one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of warm water and dip a wash cloth into the mixture.
  3. Gently press damp cloth against the stain for several seconds, then rinse with cold water.
  4. If the stain still remains, mix one teaspoon of dish detergent in with one cup of hot water and use a sponge or cloth to apply the mixture to affected area.
  5. Let solution sit for five minutes before rinsing with cold water.
  6. Repeat steps one through five as needed to remove the stain.
  7. Launder shirt according to manufacturer's instructions.
