When dealing with rouge stains on piqué fabric, it is important to act quickly. The longer stain remains, the harder it will be to remove. Start by blotting up as much of the stain as possible, using a paper towel or lint-free cloth. It is important not to rub the fabric or you may spread the stain.

Once the excess rouge has been blotted away, you will need to pretreat the stain. Mix together 1 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent and one cup of warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and blot the remaining stain. Again, avoid rubbing the fabric which will only force stain further into the fibers.

Next, rinse the stained area in cold water, making sure to wring out the excess water. Allow the fabric to air dry or pat gently with a dry cloth.

Once fabric is dry, if any of the stain remains, pre-treat the fabric again with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and a cup of warm water. Blot the fabric with the mixture, rinse in cold water and dry. This method should get rid of any remaining stains.

If the stain persists after following these steps, repeat the process again and if necessary, deep clean the fabric using an appropriate cleaner. Always check the label of your garment prior to deep cleaning to ensure that cleaner is safe for use on piqué fabric.
