First, blot up as much of the excess rouge as possible using a clean cloth. This will help prevent stain from spreading deeper into your pillow.
Mix together some laundry detergent with warm water to create a sudsy solution. Dip another clean cloth in the solution, then dab the stain with it. Allow the soap to sit on the stain for 5 minutes before moving on to the next step.
Pour some stain remover directly onto the stained area, then rub it into fabric in a circular motion with your cloth. Allow the stain remover to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse the area with warm water.
It's time to treat your pillow in the washing machine! Add your detergent and a cup of white vinegar to the washer, then set it to a gentle cycle. Be sure to also wash two other pillowcases to help agitate the loose dye particles out of the fabric.
Once the cycle is finished, leave your pillow in the washer and run it through another cycle to help ensure the stain is completely gone. Finally, transfer your pillow to the dryer and set it on a low setting. When it's finished, give it a smell test — if it still smells like rouge, you'll need to repeat the washing process.
If needed, you can use a vacuum cleaner to further remove any of the remaining rouge particles from your pillow. Vacuum along the edges, corners, and creases of your pillowcase to get rid of any stubborn pieces of dye.
