The first step in cleaning rouge stains off of concrete or pavers is to clear the area. Make sure to remove any debris, dirt, or other grime that could be clogging up stain. Use a stiff brush to scrub away any stubborn dirt or debris.
Once the area is cleared, the next step is to apply a mild detergent. Work the detergent into the stain using a soft cloth, paying special attention to areas where the stain is dense or has set in for a long time. Allow detergent to sit for at least 10 minutes before going onto the next step.
Once the detergent has had time to work its magic, it’s time to scrub away rouge stain. Use a stiff brush to scrub away the stain. Be sure to scrub with some force to ensure that all of the rouge is removed from the surface. Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with clean water.
If stain still won't come out after scrubbing, you may need to resort to using oxalic acid. Oxalic acid is a strong chemical that is often used to remove tough stains. When using oxalic acid, be sure to wear protective gloves and a facemask to protect your skin and lungs. Mix the oxalic acid with an equal amount of water and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing again. Rinse area with clean water when finished.
The final step is to seal the area to protect it from future stains. Use a sealant that is specifically designed for concrete and pavers. Apply the sealant evenly over the area and let it dry completely before using the area.
Cleaning rouge stains from concrete and pavers can seem like a daunting task. However, with right steps, you can easily get rid of those pesky stains. Just remember to start by cleaning the area, then applying detergent and scrubbing the stain. If the stain is still present, you may need to resort to using oxalic acid. Finally, be sure to seal the area to prevent future stains.
