What You'll Need

  • A liquid laundry detergent with an oxygen-based bleach
  • Stain remover, such as OxiClean
  • A white cloth
  • Oxygen bleach powder
  • Rubbing alcohol (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. If rouge stain is still wet and fresh, try soaking it in a solution of one part liquid laundry detergent and two parts water. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing off.
  2. If the stain is dry, rinse it in cold water until it becomes saturated. Then apply a generous amount of liquid detergent or stain remover and work the solution into the fabric.
  3. Soak the area in warm water for 30 minutes and then rub the stained area with a clean white cloth. Rinse out the cloth when necessary.
  4. If the stain remains, mix one part oxygen bleach powder with two parts water and use a white cloth to rub the solution onto the fabric until the stain is gone. Rinse the fabric thoroughly afterward.
  5. Finally, if all else fails, try rubbing a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto the fabric until the stain disappears. Rubbing alcohol will often remove the rouge, but be sure to test it on a small area first.
