Step One: Pre-Treat

First and foremost, pre-treat any rouge on muslin fabric before washing. Using a stain remover product specifically designed to remove makeup, rub it into the rouge spot until the majority of product has been absorbed. If you don’t have a stain remover handy, you can also create a mix of equal parts water and white vinegar and soak the stained area until it’s gone.

Step Two: Soak

Once the stain remover or white vinegar/water mixture has been applied, allow the fabric to soak for 15 minutes. This will give cleaning solution time to penetrate the rouge stain and effectively remove it from the muslin.

Step Three: Wash

After the allotted time has passed, wash muslin fabric in a washing machine, using either hot or cold water and a mild detergent. To ensure that all of the rouge comes off, you may wish to launder the fabric more than once.

Conclusion

Cleaning rouge from muslin is relatively easy. By using a combination of stain removers, white vinegar, and mild detergents, you can safely remove nearly any rouge stain from muslin fabric.
