The first step in tackling a rouge stain is to check the care tag on your Levi's. If it has any specific instructions for cleaning rouge stains, follow them. If not, proceed to step two.
Gently dilute the rouge stain with a bit of dishwashing liquid and water. Submerge stained section of the garment in soapy mixture and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. Gently agitate the fabric every few minutes as it soaks.
Once the garment has been allowed to soak, rinse it with cold water. Do not use hot water, as this may cause the rouge stain to set. Repeat this step until the water runs clear.
If the stain remains, pre-treat it with a laundry detergent designed for pre-treating stains. Allow the pre-treatment to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.
Finally, wash the garment as normal along with other items with similar colors. Be sure to use the correct water temperature for the garment and check for any remaining stains before drying.
The best way to avoid rouge stains is to always use a setting spray when applying makeup near your Levi's. Additionally, you may want to consider investing in a makeup bag that is specifically designed to resist staining.
