First, you'll want to turn your garment inside out and soak it in a sink or large bowl of cool water. Use a mild detergent and let the garment sit for at least an hour. This will start to break down the stain before you even begin scrubbing.
Once the item has soaked, you can move on to pre-treating stain. Try applying some hand or dish soap directly to the spot and rub gently. You may also want to apply a bit of white vinegar to the rouge stain for added effectiveness.
Now it's time to wash the stained garment. Place the item in washing machine, with any other clothing items that you plan to wash. Make sure the water temperature is set to cold and adjust your wash cycle accordingly. After the cycle is complete, check for any remaining stains and if necessary, repeat the process.
If you're still having trouble getting the stain out, you can try putting the item in the dryer on a low heat setting. The heat will help set the stain, making it easier to remove. You may also need to use a stain remover such as OxyClean. Be sure to follow directions on the packaging carefully.
Finally, if nothing else seems to be working, you can take the garment to a professional dry cleaner and ask them to use one of their specialty stain removal methods. This is usually the most successful option when it comes to dealing with stubborn stains.
