Step 1: Check for Colorfastness

Before attempting any cleaning method, make sure to test the fabric for colorfastness. To do this, simply dampen an area with a white cloth and cold water. Rub gently, then check the cloth to ensure it does not have the bag's color on it. If it does, select a different method for cleaning.

Step 2: Blot Stain

When you come across a rouge stain on a Hermes bag, the most important thing is to immediately blot the fabric. Use a clean towel or absorbent cloth to soak up as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the fabric, as this could cause discoloration or damage.

Step 3: Soak in Detergent and Water Solution

If you are able to safely wet the fabric of bag, create a mild detergent and water solution to soak the stained area. Let the bag soak for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Do not wring the fabric, as this could damage the material. Instead, gently press out the excess water and air dry.

Step 4: Spot Clean

For more stubborn stains, spot-cleaning may be necessary. Make a mixture of three parts water and one part white vinegar and apply it directly to the stain. Gently rub the stain until it starts to lift, then rinse with cold water and allow to air dry.

Step 5: Seek Professional Help

For particularly stubborn stains, or delicate materials, it is always recommended that you seek professional help. By seeking the expertise of a professional, you can rest assured that the job will be done properly, helping to restore your Hermes bag to its former glory.
