Rouge is a common cosmetic used to highlight cheeks and lips, but if you're not careful, it can do the same for your beloved handbag. Rouge stains can be caused by spilled or smudged makeup, and if left untreated, they can leave an obvious mark- which isn’t look you want.

How to Clean Rouge Stains

  1. Put some water on the stain and let it sit for 5 minutes. This will help loosen up the stain.
  2. Wipe off the excess water with a cloth.
  3. Gently dab the cleaning solution (dish soap or laundry detergent) onto the stained area.
  4. Scrub the solution into the fabric in a circular motion.
  5. Wipe the spot with a damp cloth to remove the soap.
  6. Apply hydrogen peroxide to the stain for an extra boost of cleaning power.
  7. Let the hydrogen peroxide sit for a few minutes before wiping it away with a damp cloth.
  8. Rinse the area with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry.

Once stain is gone, you can use a leather conditioner to restore the finish of your bag. This will also help protect against future stains.
