Using Detergent or Soap to Remove Rouge Stains

Start by soaking the affected area for about 10 minutes using a solution of lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Once that's finished, rinse the gown thoroughly in lukewarm water. Then, put dress in the washing machine and let it go through a regular cycle. Adding a quarter cup of white vinegar to the washing machine will also help to remove stains.

Using Rubbing Alcohol

If the rouge stains are still there after washing, try using rubbing alcohol. Start by dampening a clean cloth with a few drops of rubbing alcohol and dabbing it onto the stains. Then, rinse area off with warm water and let it air dry. Make sure to check the label on your garment to ensure that rubbing alcohol won’t damage the fabric.

Using Absorbent Powder

One of the most effective ways to remove rouge stains is to use an absorbent powder. Pour the powder directly onto the stains and let it sit overnight. In morning, brush the powder away and the stains should come off with it. If not, repeat the process until stains are gone.

Other Tips

  • Always test any cleaning method on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it won’t damage the fabric.
  • Make sure to treat the stain as soon as possible to prevent it from setting in.
  • If you’re unable to remove the stains by yourself, take the garment to a professional cleaner.
