How to Remove Rouge Stains from Cotton Gingham:

  1. Gently scrape off any excess rouge. Use a butter knife or a spoon to gently scrape off as much of the rouge as possible. Do not scrub or apply too much pressure, as this could cause damage to the fabric.
  2. Dampen a clean cloth with lukewarm water. Dip the cloth in lukewarm water, wring out the excess, and then blot the stained area with the damp cloth.
  3. Pre-treat the stain with a laundry detergent. Apply some laundry detergent directly onto the stained area and work it into the fabric with your fingers. Leave the detergent in place for 3-5 minutes
  4. Soak the fabric. Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add 1/4 cup of laundry detergent. Submerge the stained area of the fabric and let it soak for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Wash the fabric. Place the fabric into the washing machine and set the temperature to warm. Wash the fabric with a gentle detergent and allow it to air dry or tumble dry on low heat.
