How to Remove Rouge Stains from Cotton Fabric
- Before attempting to remove the rouge stains, test the fabric for colorfastness. Dip a hidden area of fabric in water and apply some liquid laundry detergent. If the color does not bleed, you can proceed with the stain removal process.
- Soak the stained fabric in warm water for about 10 minutes. The water should cover the entire stained area.
- Create a cleaning solution by mixing one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with one cup of warm water.
- Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area and gently rub it in. Leave it to sit for a few minutes.
- Rinse off the soapy solution from the fabric using clean, warm water.
- If traces of the stain remain, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one quart of warm water. Soak stained area in this solution for 10 minutes.
- Remove the fabric from the solution and rinse it off with warm water. Blot the area with a soft white cloth to absorb any excess liquid.
- Allow stained fabric to air dry completely.
Additional Tips
- If the rouge stain is still visible, repeat steps 4-7 until it is completely gone.
- Rouge stains may need more than one treatment to remove completely.
- Do not rub the fabric too hard when scrubbing the stain, as this could damage the fibers.
