When it comes to removing rouge stains from chambray, the trick is to act quickly. When it’s a fresh stain, use a paper towel to gently dab (not rub) at the area to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Be sure not to press down too hard or you might risk further staining and/or spreading discoloration.

Once you've blotted up as much of liquid as possible, take the garment to your sink or laundry room and fill it with cold water. Use your hands or a soft brush to massage the affected area and apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly to the stain. Let the garment sit in the soapy water for up to 15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

You can also try a stronger option by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl. Again, apply the mixture directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse well afterwards and follow up with the cold water rinse described previously.

Once stain has been removed, lay the clothing flat on a towel and roll it up, pressing on it to draw out as much moisture as possible. Hang garment up until it’s almost dry, then transfer it to the dryer with a couple of fabric softener sheets. The fabric softener will help keep the fabric soft and prevent static.
