The first step when it comes to dealing with rouge stains on business suits is to address the issue as soon as possible. The sooner you tackle stain, easier it will be to eliminate it.

Buildings suits are mostly made of wool or synthetic fibres, so make sure to check the fabric’s care label first before applying any cleaning method. Most business suits are dry-clean only, so bringing it to your local dry cleaner is the safest and most reliable way to remove any kind of stain.

If the care label gives you the opportunity to hand wash the suit, use a mild non-bleach detergent and lukewarm water. Start by dabbing the area of the stain with a damp white cloth and create a lather by using the detergent. Then, very gently rub the stained area with a soft cleaning brush up and down. Do not use a circular motion in order to avoid damaging the fabric. Then, rinse the fabric and repeat until stain has disappeared.

A good tip to keep in mind is to avoid using any heat when cleaning a rouge stain as this will help prevent the stain from setting and make it easier to remove. Washing and drying the stained area with cold water is the best option.

If the above methods don’t work, try a gentle solution such as rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. Start by mixing the solution with water in a bowl and dip a clean cloth into the solution. Then, blot the stain and repeat until the stain disappears. Make sure to test solution on a small, inconspicuous area of fabric first, as these solutions have potential to discolour the fabric.

Finally, remember that once the rouge stain has been removed, it is important to wash, dry and press the entire suit. This will help achieve the best results and make sure the stain won’t return.
