Using a soft cloth, gently dab the excess rouge away from the brocade fabric. Be careful not to rub the stain as it could damage the material. If any residue remains on the fabric, you may use a cleaning brush (withsoft bristles) to loosen and loosen any remaining residue.
In a clean bowl mix one teaspoon of mild detergent with four cups of lukewarm water. Use a spoon to stir mixture until the detergent is completely dissolved.
Now, dip the stained section of the brocade into the mild detergent solution and allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes. Make sure that all areas of the stain are exposed to the solution.
Remove the brocade from the detergent solution and rinse the area with white distilled vinegar. This will help to neutralize alkalinity of the detergent and reduce the chances of the rouge stain setting.
Pat the area dry with a paper towel to absorb any excess moisture. Don’t rub or scrub the area, as this could remove dyes from the fabric which could cause further discoloration.
Finally, hang the brocade up and allow it to air dry completely. Once dry, inspect the area to ensure that stain has been removed. If any traces remain, repeat the above steps until the stain has been removed.
