What You'll Need for Cleaning Brocade

  • Mild detergent
  • Soft cloth
  • White distilled vinegar
  • Clean bowl
  • Cleaning brush (optional)

Step 1: Gently Remove Excess Rouge

Using a soft cloth, gently dab the excess rouge away from the brocade fabric. Be careful not to rub the stain as it could damage the material. If any residue remains on the fabric, you may use a cleaning brush (withsoft bristles) to loosen and loosen any remaining residue.

Step 2: Create a Mild Detergent Solution

In a clean bowl mix one teaspoon of mild detergent with four cups of lukewarm water. Use a spoon to stir mixture until the detergent is completely dissolved.

Step 3: Soak the Stain in the Mild Detergent Solution

Now, dip the stained section of the brocade into the mild detergent solution and allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes. Make sure that all areas of the stain are exposed to the solution.

Step 4: Rinse the Stain with White Distilled Vinegar

Remove the brocade from the detergent solution and rinse the area with white distilled vinegar. This will help to neutralize alkalinity of the detergent and reduce the chances of the rouge stain setting.

Step 5: Pat Dry Stain Area

Pat the area dry with a paper towel to absorb any excess moisture. Don’t rub or scrub the area, as this could remove dyes from the fabric which could cause further discoloration.

Step 6: Air Dry the Brocade

Finally, hang the brocade up and allow it to air dry completely. Once dry, inspect the area to ensure that stain has been removed. If any traces remain, repeat the above steps until the stain has been removed.

Tips for Protecting Your Brocade Fabric

  • Never leave brocade in direct sunlight as this can lead to fading.
