What is Rouge?
Rouge is a bright & shiny red powder cosmetic that is often used for facial makeup. Although most commonly associated with makeup, rouge can cause permanent stains on many surfaces if it's not removed immediately. It can seep into fabrics, carpets, and, unfortunately, appliances.
How to Remove Rouge Stains
From Cloth
• Start by gently scraping off as much rouge as possible with a spoon or dull knife • Treat stained area with a pre-wash stain remover • If the stain persists, use a solution of 1 part bleach and 10 parts water, and soak the fabric overnight • Rinse the fabric in cold water and let it air dry
From Carpets/Upholstery
• Scrape off as much rouge as possible with a spoon or dull knife • Using a clean cloth, blot up any remaining residue with cold water • Apply a carpet cleaner and let it sit for 15 minutes • Blot the area with a clean cloth and rinse with cold water • Repeat the process until stain has been completely eliminated
From Appliances
• Start by cleaning the affected area with a damp cloth • Sprinkle a combination of baking soda, salt and vinegar onto the stain, and let it sit for 15 minutes • Gently scrub the area with a soft brush, being sure to not press too hard • Wipe away any remaining residue with a damp cloth • Rinse the area with clean water
Conclusion
Rouge stains can be difficult to remove, but with above steps, you should be able to get rid of them fairly easily. Remember to always test any cleaning solutions on a hidden area first, and be sure to wear gloves when handling any harsh chemicals.
