1. Remove Any Excess Rouge Immediately

Before attempting any kind of cleaning process, it is important to first remove any excess rouge that may remain on the surface of your American Eagle item. Gently blot the area with a napkin or tissue to remove excess material. Be sure not to rub the stain as this could cause it to spread even further.

2. Spot Clean With Diluted Detergent

Mix 1 teaspoon of mild detergent with 1 cup of warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and use it to dab the stained area. Continue dabbing until the rouge is no longer visible. Do not rub or scrub fabric or you risk damaging the fibers.

3. Use Non-Chlorine Bleach

If the spot cleaning method does not appear to be working, try applying a non-chlorine bleach, such as hydrogen peroxide directly on to rouge stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water. This method should only be used on colorfast fabrics and should be tested on an inconspicuous area of your garment first.

4. Try A Baking Soda Paste

Combine baking soda and warm water to create a paste, then apply it directly onto the stain. Leave the paste on area for several minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth. Repeat if necessary, then rinse the fabric with cold water.

5. Pretreat With Liquid Laundry Detergent

Pretreating is an effective way to attack tough and set-in stains. Apply liquid laundry detergent directly onto the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse fabric with cold water and then launder as usual.

6. Soak with Oxygen-Based Bleach

Create a mixture of oxygen-based bleach and cold water and soak the stained area of your American Eagle item for up to 6 hours. Do not use this method on colored fabrics as it could fade dye. After soaking, rinse the item in cold water and then launder as normal.

7. Wash and Dry

After trying any of the above-mentioned methods, launder garment as you normally would. If the stain remains after washing and drying, repeat steps until rouge stain is completely gone.
