Remove Excess Wine Immediately

The best way to combat a red wine stain is to tackle it as soon as possible. Try to remove any excess liquid with a soft cloth or paper towel by blotting the area - never rub or scrub! You want to avoid pushing the stain deeper into the fabric.

Create a Mixture to Tackle the Stain

Mix together an equal part of white vinegar and washing up liquid until it creates a paste. Use a brush to gently rub the paste into the stain, and allow it to sit for 10 – 15 minutes. Then rinse the mixture away with cold water.

Soak and Wash

Soak the stained garment in lukewarm water with a generous helping of either laundry detergent or washing up liquid for up to an hour. Once soaked, transfer the dress to washing machine, making sure to select the appropriate cycle for the fabric.

Use a Stain Remover

If the stain still remains after washing, you should try using a store-bought spot remover. Make sure to read the manufacturer's instructions carefully before using, and make sure the product is safe to use on the fabric.

Dry and Check

Once the garment has been through the wash cycle, check the area to make sure stain is completely gone. If not, repeat the process until you are happy with the results. Finally, hang the garment to dry.
