Before rushing to the washer right away, secret lies in absorbent materials and good timing . Here are steps:

  • Soak up any excess liquid with a paper towel or a piece of cloth
  • Mix two tablespoons of dish-washing detergent with a quart of cold water and apply the solution to stained area
  • Cover solution with a wet cloth and let it sit for about 10 minutes
  • Blot the stain gently with a damp cloth, starting from the outer edge of the stain moving inward
  • Wash the item according to its instructions
  • Air dry the garment

When dealing with delicate fabrics such as silk, wool or cashmere, you should opt for a milder solution: two cups of white vinegar diluted in a gallon of warm water. Let the fabric soak for 20-30 minutes and then wash as usual.

Stains don't stand a chance if you act quickly and use the right products. With these tips you'll never have to worry about embarrassing red wine stains on workwear anymore.
